Space or block models are typically created during the early concept stage. These quick models are generally unfinished with no functionality, but provide useful information about proportion, size, and aesthetics at a relatively low cost. This basic level of model can be very useful at an early stage, where the client can usually hold and asses the product within the appropriate environment. Something which is very hard to accurately get a feel for from a CAD model.
